A new month has started indicating a time to ponder upon the car sales of the previous month, June 2023. The semiconductor supply has been steady which has led to quicker deliveries with declining waiting periods. There has been a YoY growth of 2.51 in June 2023, let’s see how the brands performed individually:

  • Maruti Suzuki-1,33,027 units

    Maruti Suzuki has been the leader as always with 1,33,027 units sold in June 2023. They accounted for an 8.4% YoY growth however the MoM car sales did take a dip of 7.43% but they are the biggest shareholder in the market with a share of 40.44%.

  • Hyundai-50,001 units

    Hyundai takes second place following the usual pattern with 50,001 units sold last month. Hyundai registered a minor YoY growth of 2% and holds 15% of the overall market share. The bookings for their upcoming Exter are also open, this will surely increase the numbers for the next month.

  • Tata-47,325 units

    Tata Motors have had significant milestones this year with the Nexon EV being the highest EV sold and the Tiago hitting the 500,000 production milestone. Tata accounted for a YoY growth of 4.5% with 47,235 units sold.

  • Mahindra-32,588 units

    Mahindra celebrated the 900,000 production milestone for the Scorpio which has been on the roads for two decades. They also accounted for a YoY growth of 21% with 32,588 units sold. They have the audience eagerly waiting for their XUV100 which will further boost these car sales.

  • Toyota-19,608 units

    Toyota Innova Hycross

    Toyota has been working on its new collaborated products with Maruti. They also launched the new generation of the flagship MPV, Innova Hycross with the Crysta still on sale. They accounted for an 18.7% YoY growth with 19,608 units sold.

  • Kia-19,391 units

    The Korean brand accounted for a significant YoY degrowth of 19% with 19,391 units sold. Kia has launched the facelift of its most-selling SUV, Seltos with newly loaded features and even a new engine. This new launch might help them get back on track.

  • Renault-5,450 units

    Renault also has a similar performance to the above-stated brand. With no new updates or products in the lineup, the brand accounted for a major YoY decline of 41.5% in car sales this June.

  • MG-5,121 units

    In the most recent updates MG launched the facelifted Hector along with the Comet EV this year into the market. They accounted for a YoY growth of 13.7% with 5,121 units sold in car sales.

  • Honda-5,080 units

    Honda has been observing a decline with a YoY degrowth of 35% reported in June 2023. They are launching an all-new SUV, Elevate into the market which might patch things up and get them back on track.

  • Skoda-3,966 units

    Skoda sales have also gone slightly down the hill. They accounted for a YoY decline of 34% with only 3,966 units sold this June which is significantly less than the 6,023 units sold in June 2022.

  • Volkswagen-3,394 units

    Volkswagen has been performing better with new versions launched for the Virtus and Taigun with cosmetic updates. VW accounted for a minor YoY growth of 2.3% in car sales in June 2023 with 3,394 units sold.

  • Nissan-2,552 units

    Nissan Magnite Red Edition

    Nissan has not updated their existing products or launched anything new in the Indian market. They accounted for a YoY decline of 27% in sales this June with only 2,552 units sold.

  • Citroen-1,003 units

    Citroen started in the Indian market with the C5 Aircross and later expanded the lineup with the C3 and the electric version of the same hatchback. They accounted for a massive YoY growth of 1202% with 1,003 units sold this June.
